Comparing Apples with Apples not Oranges! Hidden Conveyancing Costs.

By | Monday, November 09, 2015
Purchasing a new home is both an exciting and one of the biggest financial endeavours you can make. Some of the things this purchase covers will include:
-          The cost of the home
-          Real Estate fees
-          Conveyancing costs
-          Stamp Duty
-          Transfer Lodgement Fees
-          Insurance on your new property

When choosing your conveyancer be sure to shop around!

Within a Conveyance there will be additional costs incurred by your conveyancer often referred to as “Disbursements” these disbursements will include, amongst other things, the cost of ordering Searches and lodging documents on your behalf.
Some firms will provide a quote that does not outline these costs, making their services appear much cheaper than they really are! Some Solicitors even use disbursements to add costs which should be included in their professional fee, for example the cost of attending settlement. What’s worse is that it can often be difficult to dispute these costs as you may not become aware of them until after your conveyancer has already been paid out at settlement and has sent you an invoice.

So Remember to ASK the QUESTION……. ‘WHAT DOES THAT INCLUDE?’

When shopping around for quotes on Conveyancing services it is important to get a quote that includes all GST, additional service fees and disbursements likely to be incurred in your conveyance.  Any additional fees incurred along the way should be discussed with you prior to being incurred so that you know exactly what to expect.
This allows you to compare apples with apples and ensure that you are getting the best value for money out of your Conveyancer.
